Charcoal Nymph Tied By Carmen Muller |

|
| Method: This fly was originally designed as a still-water wet fly. For matching the hatch, fish it when the dark-winged flies are on the water. Use a floating line, and fish the nymph just under the surface with an extremely slow retrieve. When no surface activity is obvious, fish the Charcoal Nymph deep and very slow. In streams the black duns are much scarcer, but other dark mayflies take their place. Use a weighted thorax version of this nymph for fast water. Cast it upstream with a floating line and dead-drift it back. | |
